Job Description
Tax Manager
Make a real impact—without burning out.
Are you ready to unleash your tax expertise in a firm that truly values your time, energy, and well-being? At RPB CPAs—Wisconsin’s oldest CPA firm—we don’t just talk about work-life balance, we actually live it. Our vacation policies are generous (and respected), our busy season hours are remarkably reasonable, and flexibility is built into the way we operate. We’ve created a culture where high standards don’t mean burnout—and that’s exactly how we like it.
We're looking for a Tax Manager who’s passionate about their work, energized by mentorship, and ready to lead with both technical insight and humanity.
What You’ll Do :
Tax Strategy & Planning
Lead the development and implementation of smart, creative strategies to minimize client liabilities and stay ahead of tax law changes.
Collaborate across teams to identify value-added solutions and ensure compliance.
Team Leadership
Guide and support a team of tax professionals with a focus on development, accountability, and shared success.
Foster a collaborative, approachable, and flexible work environment.
Client Relationships
Build trusted advisor status with a wide range of clients—providing insight, proactive solutions, and responsive service.
Project Oversight
Manage tax engagements from start to finish, maintaining accuracy and timeliness without chaos.
Apply strong organizational skills to balance priorities across diverse clients and industries.
Compliance & Review
Prepare and review complex tax returns for corporations, partnerships, individuals, and non-profits.
Ensure every return reflects our high quality standards and up-to-date compliance.
Technology & Innovation
Use current tax software and systems to increase efficiency and reduce stress.
Stay curious about new tools and better ways of working.
What We’re Looking For :
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Accounting or related field
CPA strongly preferred
8+ years in tax planning, compliance, and client service
Supervisory or management experience
Confident communicator and collaborative leader
Analytical thinker with strong technical skills
Someone who thrives in a structured environment without the 80-hour weeks
What Makes Us Different :
True flexibility in your schedule and workload
Generous PTO that people actually take
Reasonable busy season hours (yes, really!!)
A culture of trust, mutual respect, and real work-life balance
A mid-size firm where you matter—and your ideas do too
Benefits :
Competitive salary and full benefits (health, dental, vision, life, disability)
401(k) with firm match
Paid short- and long-term disability
Health Savings Account (HSA)
Active mentorship program
Fun social events and an unbeatable team culture
Ready to lead, grow, and feel good about where you work?
We’d love to hear from you.
