UPMC Mercy Manager, Pharmacy
Direct the design and implementation of pharmacy services to support the provision of pharmaceutical care in an efficient and effective manner. Integrate the philosophies and techniques of quality improvement. Ensure that services are provided in compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. Assist in the recruitment and hiring of staff. Mentor and provide leadership for the staff. Schedule staff to cover hours of operations and on call schedule. Monitor the budget for areas of responsibility (drug margin and staffing) to ensure cost effective services. Participate in and support various inter and intra department committees to promote the role of pharmacy in delivery of optimum patient care. Participate in educational and research initiatives in line with the mission of the organization.
Responsibilities include : designing and implementing operational services, maintaining productive relationships with clinical leadership roles, developing and monitoring the delivery of pharmaceutical care, facilitating staff involvement in departmental programs, promoting research related to practice, integrating distributive and cognitive aspects of pharmaceutical care, assisting with recruitment and mentoring staff, ensuring cost-effective drug therapy, maintaining compliance with regulations, and assisting with budget preparation.
Required qualifications include : a B.S. degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D.) from an accredited school of pharmacy, three years experience in a broad range of pharmacy operational, clinical, or administrative pharmacy practice OR completion of an HSPAL postgraduate pharmacy residency, and licensure as a Pharmacist and Act 34 clearance.
