Responsibilities Work in an acuity-adaptable ICU within an oncology-focused facility Primarily manages post-surgical, sepsis infection, and pain management patients Assignments include care for patients of mixed acuity in a 24-bed unit with an average daily census of 14 Nurse to patient ratio is typically 1 : 3-4 Care is managed in the same room, with no patient transfers between levels Utilizes Pyxis medication system and EPIC documentation SBAR communication standard is used Floating to other inpatient units required, occasional float to ER Night shift (3x12 hours : 19 : 00–07 : 30) with every third weekend required No on-call responsibilities Role includes management of central / PICC lines, blood product administration, advanced airway and sedation management, and wound care with drains / vac First time travelers are welcome to apply 36-48 hours of unit orientation provided Team follows standardized procedures for infection prevention and isolation precautions Pewter scrubs required and not provided No restrictive rules on requested time off (RTO) Travel pairs are welcome No required completion of online modules prior to start Requirements Active Illinois RN license in hand (no pending licensure) Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association (AHA only, no HeartCode) Chemotherapy certification required Minimum 1 year ICU RN experience required (2 years preferred) Epic charting experience required for some units Experience in neuro or surgical ICU, dysrhythmia management, multi-system organ failure, advanced IV therapy, and ventilator care preferred Flu vaccine or signed declination form required during flu season Former employees of the facility are not eligible for consideration Locals accepted at local rate, defined as living within a 75-mile radius Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-615112.
