As a Per Diem NICU Registered Nurse, you will provide exceptional nursing care to neonates in our high-risk neonatal intensive care unit. Under the guidance of nursing leadership, you will play a crucial role in assessing and planning individualized patient care, collaborating with healthcare teams, educating families, and performing advanced clinical tasks such as neonatal transport and respiratory support. - Continuously assess patients' physical and psychosocial conditions throughout their care journey.\n
- Develop, communicate, and document personalized care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and the healthcare team.\n
- Implement and coordinate care plans effectively with the healthcare team.\n
- Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and make necessary adjustments for optimal patient outcomes.\n
- Plan educational sessions based on individual learning needs of patients and families, documenting the outcomes.\n
- Serve as a preceptor for new staff, fostering their development and growth.\n
- When acting in the charge nurse role, delegate and supervise unit activities effectively.\n
- Ensure excellent customer service, teamwork, resource utilization, and personal and staff development during performance reviews.\n
- Perform duties as assigned to support the smooth operation of the unit.\n
- Demonstrate competency in neonatal clinical skills, including IV line management and respiratory support.\n
- Provide initial care and stabilization for neonates at high-risk deliveries.\n
- Manage neonatal transport situations with confidence and skill.\n
- Incorporate developmentally supportive and family-centered care practices.\n
- Support breastfeeding initiatives in the NICU through collaboration with Lactation Consultants.\n\nQualifications : \n
- Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN is preferred.\n
- Experience using electronic patient records and internet resources for patient care.\n
- Recent experience in a level 2 or 3 NICU preferred.\n
- Valid Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut.\n
- BLS certification is required; NRP certification needed within six months of hire.\n
