Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Observation unit position requiring a compact or IN license, recent EPIC experience, and strong cardiac and neuro skills.
Responsibilities
Work in a 23-bed Observation / Med / Surg unit within a hospital settingPrimary patient population includes cardiac, neuro (CVA / TIA), hypotensive, GI / urology pre / post procedure, post-surgical, detox / CIWA, and other acute patientsPatient ratios are 1 : 4-5 (0700-1500), 1 : 5-6 (1500-1900), 1 : 6-7 (1900-0700), with charge nurse taking assignment on all shiftsDay shifts are 12 hours (6 : 30-19 : 00), with weekend block options availableRequires floating within skillset, including to two nearby campuses with 2-hour notice for cross-campus floatEPIC EMR is used and recent experience with EPIC is requiredRole may involve precepting students and new hires in a teaching hospital settingTeam-oriented environment with strong support and low turnover under experienced leadershipRequired to work three weekends in every six-week schedule and every other holidayFirst to float within skillset as needed, with potential cross-campus floating within an 11-mile radiusNavy blue scrubs required; no hoodies, sweatshirts, or logos from competing health systems / agenciesCOVID-19 vaccination is not currently required but is subject to changeNo local candidates accepted within a 40-mile radiusRequirements
Active IN or compact state RN license requiredCurrent AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications requiredMinimum two years of strong Med / Surg experience and at least one prior travel assignment requiredRecent experience with EPIC charting systemStrong assessment and critical thinking skills, including cardiac cath recovery, post-surgical care, neuro assessment, drip titration, blood administration, drain management, and moreBenefits
