Position : Long Term Substitute – Academic Support Teacher (Grades 4–8)
Dates : December 1, 2025 – January 31, 2026 Schedule : Monday–Friday, 7 : 45 a.m.–3 : 15 p.m. (a modified schedule may be discussed) School Closures : December 20, 2025 – January 4, 2026; January 19, 2026
Bethany School seeks a Long Term Substitute Academic Support Teacher for grades 4–8 to provide academic support and intervention services in reading and mathematics. The Academic Support Teacher plays a key role in fostering student growth and success by offering individualized and small-group instruction, collaborating with teachers, and supporting students with identified learning needs.
Responsibilities
The Long Term Substitute Academic Support Teacher will :
- Provide push-in and pull-out support for students in reading and mathematics.
- Deliver small group instruction aligned with students' individual needs and goals.
- Manage a caseload of Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) / Academic Support Plans (ASPs) , ensuring accommodations and goals are implemented.
- Track and document student progress toward individual academic goals.
- Collaborate with faculty to support student learning in the classroom setting.
- Communicate effectively with families and faculty about student supports, needs, and progress.
- Contribute to a school culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy in learning.
- Uphold Bethany School's mission of nurturing the mind, body, and spirit of each child.
Qualifications
Qualified candidates will possess or demonstrate :
Bachelor's degree in Education or related field (Master's preferred).Experience in special education, intervention, or learning supportKnowledge of best practices in reading and math intervention.A commitment to justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) in education.Strong organizational skills for managing caseloads and progress monitoring.Initiative, professionalism, and the ability to maintain calm under pressure.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with students, families, and colleagues.Proficiency in technology for documentation, communication, and instructional support.Willingness to engage in ongoing professional growth.About Bethany School
