Title : Safety Director

Status : Full-time

Salary : $68,684 - $85,137

Description

The City of Fishers Department of Public Works (DPW) is looking for an energetic, self-starter with proven success in the occupational safety and health field to coordinate their safety program. Fishers DPW is a dynamic organization consisting of Street Maintenance, Water Quality, Park Maintenance, and Facility Maintenance.

The Safety Director will develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive risk management program to include accident prevention, loss control, regulatory compliance, safety training, equipment training, development of training materials and programs, procedures analysis, and trend analysis.

Examples of Duties

Develop a training protocol for all new hires, and continued training for full time staff

Develop, coordinate and conduct departmental safety-related training activities

Maintain OSHA compliance for Public Works

Monitor and maintain employee training records and MSDS records

Develop and implement job hazard analysis and provide corrective direction as needed

Ensure employees are provided with the appropriate PPE in association with their job assignments based on job hazard analysis

Work with public safety officials to insure all special events are conducted in a safe manner

Ensure quarterly departmental / facility safety and health audits are completed and appropriate work requests are submitted

Participate in city snow removal efforts

Minimum Qualifications

Associates / Technical degree and extensive experience in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;

Bachelor's degree preferred with 2-3 years' experience in occupational safety and health;

Must have Indiana Driver's License and ability to be insured to drive a city vehicle;

OSHA 10 & 30 Certifications preferred;

Working knowledge of office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Adobe, etc.);

Working knowledge of laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances as relates to city, county, state and federal government;

Ability to operate light to heavy duty vehicles and equipment (trucks, tractors, small machines, etc.);

Strong verbal and written communication skills;

Ability to work overtime and weekends including hours for special events, meetings, training, emergencies / on-call assignments, or snow removal.
