Travel Requirement : This is a travel position, with up to 10 consecutive nights on the road at a time. Hotel accommodations are paid for by the company, and employees receive a daily meal per diem.
Job Summary
As a Job Site Laborer / Operator, you will be responsible for executing salvage, recovery, and demolition projects at agricultural and industrial sites across the country. This role involves hands-on work with specialized equipment, responding to emergency situations, and supporting restoration efforts for our clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Preparation & Safety
Assist with staging equipment and materials at job sites
Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)Participate in daily safety briefings and hazard assessmentsProject ExecutionOperate heavy machinery such as skid steers, telehandlers, and loaders
Perform manual labor tasks including shoveling, sweeping, and sorting materialsSupport demolition of damaged structures including bins, silos, and conveyorsRecover and handle damaged commodities such as grain and food productsEquipment Operation & MaintenanceSafely operate trucks and trailers (Class A CDL preferred)
Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance on tools and machineryReport equipment issues and assist with minor repairsDocumentation & Team CommunicationMaintain accurate records of material volumes, labor hours, and equipment usage
Communicate effectively with team leads and project managersRepresent West Side Salvage professionally at client sitesQualifications
Strong work ethic and reliabilityGeneral mechanical aptitude or willingness to learnExperience operating heavy equipment and trucks (Class A CDL preferred)Ability to travel overnight for extended periods (up to 10 nights at a time)Good communication and teamwork skillsBenefits
