Overview
Medical Interpreter Per Diem (Arabic) role at UC Davis Clinical and Translational Science Center. This position provides oral interpreting services for non-English speaking and limited English-speaking patients of the University of California, Davis Health.
Key Responsibilities
- 90% - Oral Interpreting
- 10% - Record keeping and other duties
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a valid California Driver's License.Meet minimum California auto insurance requirements.Passing score on internal Interpreter Competency Test or an active National Medical Interpreter certification status.Required to hold a valid California driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies / procedures, and / or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice ProgramMust be fluent in English and target language(s).Knowledge of medical terminology in source and target languages.Knowledge of medical terminology.Skills to perform work accurately, completely, and clearly with fidelity to the original communication.Ability to orally interpret information from the target language into English, and from English into the target language.Ability to interact with and relate to non-English speaking persons of any background and culture with enthusiasm, professionalism and empathy.Tact and diplomacy to meet the communication needs of the general public, medical staff, community, governmental agencies and internal committees.Organizational skills to determine patient and workload priorities to enable completion of appointments and projects in a timely manner.Confidence to interact with various departments one on one, through the phone, via video, and in writing.Ability to write and print legibly to accomplish documentation and administration tasks.Ability to read schedules, forms, brochures and computer printed information to determine location of physicians, families, facilities, etc. and to disseminate this information as required.Ability and physical dexterity to use computer terminal equipment.Preferred Qualifications
Certification from an independent medical interpreter school or program.Minimum of 6 months of dedicated healthcare interpreter experience.Familiarity with the Health System setting.Position Information
