Solstice Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Mechanical Integrity Engineer for our chemical client located in East Houston. The role is in office on a 9 / 80 schedule with 10% domestic travel.
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of experience required
- 8+ years of mechanical integrity and maintenance experience in the oil and gas, refining, or chemical industries required
- PE License strongly preferred
- Base salary of $130k - $160k DOE plus bonus opportunity and excellent benefits
The Mechanical Integrity Engineer will oversee the mechanical integrity program, provide and support Risk analysis, perform equipment assessments and assist with repair plans, supervise general mechanical work, provide expertise on equipment design / selection and enforce plant policies and procedures. Own and maintain pipe specification.
Role Responsibilities :
In collaboration with the Engineering Manager, develop Maintenance plansOwn, coordinate and implement all MI related activities and program documents.Develop Equipment Strategy to maximize equipment lifetime and minimize unplanned downtimesScope of responsibility :Static equipment : Pressure vessels, Piping, Valves, Heat Exchangers, Boilers and Fired Heaters; Storage Tanks, PSVs, PVSVs, ERVs, boilersMachinery equipment : pumps, blowers, compressors, Agitators,Provide and support Risk Based Inspection analysis, perform pressure equipment damage assessmentsProvide engineering expertise in troubleshooting equipment issues, evaluation of equipment failures and technical recommendations for repairs / upgradesAssists in developing key metrics to measure the site maintenance performance and develop improvement plansResponsible to support critical spare parts / inventory program to optimize production downtimeProject Leadership :Responsible for mechanical design during FEL and Definition phase of projectsSupport Projects Department identifying Maintenance requirements for Capital projectsProvide support and coordination with vendors, contractors, as needed and requested by Project ManagerSupport the development of best practices and design standards for the companyIdentify data that needs to be highlighted for discussion and potential intervention.Accountable for compliance with all pertinent internal / external regulatory requirements (HSE, Process Safety, Compliance Reporting etc.).Maintenance of ISO 9001 certifications for the business by complying with processes, procedures and instructions for all activities in which this role participatesRequirements :
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of experience8+ years MI and project execution in the oil and gas, refining, or chemical industriesPE license strongly preferredLeadership and effective people management skills.Experience with rotating equipment and metallurgy preferredAbility to perform pipe stress or pressure vessel calculations.Experience developing standard piping specificationsAbility to master mechanical equipment, manufacturing and chemical process equipment, product and process knowledgeExperience with preventative and predictive maintenance techniquesExperience / knowledge troubleshooting mechanical equipment, to include leading Root Cause Failure Analysis and driving corrective / preventative actions from itDemonstrated experience with manufacturing safety programsKnowledgeable of ASME code Section I, II, IV, V, V, V, VII, VIII, and IX as well as ASME B31.1 and ASME B31.3
