Position : Maintenance Planner / Scheduler
Pay Range : $55,000 - $105,000 (Depending on experience and qualifications)
The Planner / Scheduler coordinates the planning and scheduling process and oversees the development of the planning systems. The Planner / Scheduler will maximize the efficiency of maintenance work performed by ensuring that work orders have been thoroughly analyzed to determine the exact scope of the job. He / she will ensure that the necessary resources have been identified and are staged and ready for job execution before scheduling and starting work.
Key Responsibilities
- Confirms the necessity of outsourcing maintenance activities, ensures the correct cost center is charged, and monitors appropriate staffing levels.
- Functions as a backup to the CMMS administrator for (E360).
- Ensures all accepted work orders are reviewed, prioritized and have a detailed work plan including manpower, skill sets, duration, safety procedures, tools, materials, equipment, permits, and specifications.
- Creates job plans for maintenance work orders including craft skills, parts, tools, equipment, information, permits, and expertise required.
- Develops job standards to ensure work is performed within acceptable and optimal limits and meets safety, environmental, and compliance requirements.
- Uses previous experience, CMMS history, and subject matter experts to determine manpower requirements and duration for a work order.
- Creates and maintains equipment files with standard job packages, including accurate Bills of Material (BOM) and relevant technical information for continual improvement of planned work execution.
- Facilitates routine cross-functional planning meetings with assigned business units to review the CMMS backlog and verifies work priorities for the upcoming weekly schedule. Coordinates upcoming maintenance work with the production schedule to ensure access to equipment at the agreed-upon time.
- Develops, maintains, and reports on KPIs relevant to the planning process (e.g., schedule compliance, planning accuracy, backlog aging, budgetary compliance).
- Optimizes the Preventive Maintenance (PM) program by evaluating task lists, part requirements, and frequencies, with input from maintenance technicians, supervisors, and operations managers.
- Coordinates with the Equipment Manager on decisions to send components out for refurbishment.
- Works with storeroom team to establish minimum / maximum stock levels, discuss additions / removals of items from stock, create job kits, and requests for capital spares.
- Develops detailed daily and weekly schedules for the maintenance supervisor.
- Develops a two-week forward plan and a four-week PM plan forecast.
- Serves as co-chairperson for the weekly scheduling meeting.
- Develops detailed schedules and tracks the progress of all maintenance and fabrication work.
- Assists and supports Total Process Reliability (TPR) on improvement initiatives.
Decision-Making Authority
The Planner makes independent decisions within their defined areas of responsibility to improve maintenance resource efficiency, reduce costs, and improve plant reliability and uptime.The Planner decides which recurring maintenance problems merit a Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) or other reliability assessment.The Planner decides how to bring off-target KPIs back into acceptable ranges and works with the Equipment Manager to do so.The Planner makes decisions about resources (contractors, overtime) needed to manage the backlog.Minimum Requirements
2-4 years maintenance planning experience.Ability to lead through influence and persuasion.Technical expertise in equipment and multiple maintenance crafts; ability to apply this knowledge to create timely, complete, technically correct, and cost-effective repair plans is a plus.Capable of visualizing a job and assessing needs for non-standard components and equipment.Ability to use previous experience, CMMS history, and subject matter experts to determine manpower requirements and duration of a work order.Clear and concise written and verbal communication.Ability to maintain effective working relationships with operators, technicians, vendors, and contractors.Ability to indirectly supervise supplemental workforce (contractors) with respect to assignment coordination and cost.Capable of reading, interpreting, and applying information from files, drawings, catalogs, schematics, diagrams, reports, and manuals.Proficient PC skills and experience with MS Office and CMMS.Willingness to initiate and embrace change.Supervisory Responsibility
