American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 1 Trauma ICU night shift position requiring 3 years of recent ICU experience with neuro or CV exposure and active AZ or compact licensure.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in an acute care Level I trauma ICU with 32 SICU beds, 36 medical / cardiac ICU beds, and a 12 bed overflow unitPatient population includes trauma, neuro-surgical, CVA, status post-TPA, sepsis, ARDS, COVID, CRRT, DKA, and cardiovascular surgeriesNurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1 : 2 or 1 : 1 depending on acuityCare includes titration of critical drips and management of advanced cardiac and neuro patientsRNs interpret their own cardiac strips using GE monitorsMechanical ventilation and respiratory support equipment include Dreager, Hamilton, Puritan Bennett 840, V60 BiPAP, AirvoUses Cerner EMR; prior experience preferred but not requiredNight shifts, 12 hours in length, with self-scheduling and manager balancing as neededThree weekend shifts per four-week schedule; weekend shifts vary by day or nightFirst to float among all ICU units and may float to telemetry with patient ratios of 1 : 3 or 1 : 4 and to a nearby sister facility as neededNo scheduled call or standby requirementsCharge nurse does not have assigned patients, and nurse aides are limited to sitters and health unit secretary rolesDuties include titrating critical drips such as propofol, fentanyl, vasopressors, cardiac and neuro medicationsCare for complex trauma, neuro-surgical, vascular, and cardiac cases in a high acuity environmentTeam includes 24 / 7 hospitalist / intensivist and respiratory therapy supportOrientation includes 1-2 days plus skills validation for trauma, neuro, and specialty devicesSterile technique testing for Foley catheter and central line dressing changes required on orientation day (two attempts allowed)First-time travelers are welcome if all experience requirements are metNavy scrubs are requiredMay only have one holiday off per assignmentMust live at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible and cannot have worked full time, part time, or PRN for CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity in the past year\n \n Requirements\n
Active AZ or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not acceptedMinimum 3 years recent ICU experience required, with at least some neuro or CV ICU exposureCurrent BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required; pending certifications not acceptedMust pass a dysrhythmia exam within 24-48 hours prior to acceptance (max two attempts allowed)Completion of a pass / fail simulation lab on Day 1 of orientation is requiredMust interpret own cardiac stripsMust provide a copy of driver's licenseMust provide two professional references : one supervisor reference from the past 12 months and one peer or supervisor reference within the last three years\n Benefits\n
