Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Telemetry position requiring ACLS, BLS, NIH certification, and a valid OH or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position is on the MS / Tele unit with 36 beds
  • Cares for a varied patient population, including a higher number of cardiac patients, chest pain cases, CHF exacerbations, pre / post cardiac cath patients, and most hospital alcohol detox patients
  • Required to titrate drips such as Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin; no pressors involved
  • Occasional care for stable chest tubes, JP drains, ports, and PICC lines; no specialty lines, but may see chronic trachs without vents
  • Uses Alaris pumps and Hercules beds
  • Patient ratios typically 1 : 4-5 depending on staffing
  • Night shift, 12-hour shifts with every other weekend and every other holiday required
  • Unit uses Epic EMR
  • Dysrhythmia Exam (EKG test) required, with study guide provided
  • Provide comprehensive care including assessment, care planning, medication administration, and care coordination in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team
  • Serve as a patient advocate and safety representative, engaging in ongoing quality improvement
  • Work closely with unit secretaries and 2-4 patient care techs depending on volume and staffing
  • Night shift charge takes patient assignment, with variable day shift charge duties depending on census
  • Navy blue scrubs are required
  • Holiday and every other weekend coverage required
  • Pass / fail EKG test required on first day, with study guide available

  • Active OH or compact RN license required
  • Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
  • Pre / post cardiac catheterization care experience required
  • Ability to titrate cardiac and anticoagulation drips
  • Must pass EKG testing on the first day, with two attempts allowed
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility
