Pharmacy Technician

Summary :

Under direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, prepares, packages, and distributes medications; performs clerical duties related to the operation of a pharmacy; and performs other related duties as required.

Job Duties & Responsibilities :

Select drugs from stock for preparation and distribution to inpatient units.

• Counts, pour, or mixes pharmaceuticals.
• Places pharmaceutical products in appropriate containers and affixes labels to containers.
• Packages and repackages pharmaceuticals.
• Able to calculate figures and amounts relating to dosage calculations when filling various prescriptions ranging from child to the elderly populations.
• Recognize inappropriate dosing based in available dosage forms for various age groups.
• Restock floor stock and automated dispensing machine stock.

Monitor medication inventory and supplies.

Perform clerical duties related to the operation of a pharmacy.

Assist in promoting a team atmosphere by treating individuals with respect and honesty and by using direct communication and active listening skills.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Promote department goals as well as the mission of the hospital.

Demonstrate understanding of Joint Commission and other regulatory agency compliance regulations.

Participate in hospital committees, performance improvement team meetings, and team projects, as directed.

Participate in the performance improvement program.

Conduct self in a professional manner.
