  • Project Control Specialist Industry : Public Sector / Contracts & Finance Location : Linthicum MD (Hybrid) Rate : $43 / hr - $49.47 / hr   Position Overview We’re hiring a Project Control Specialist to track the financial and administrative health of active contracts.
  • You’ll maintain contract files, monitor deliverables, and validate all financial transactions using automated tracking systems.
  • Success in this role requires hands-on experience with cost reporting, manpower / resource planning, and creating clear financial reports and presentations.
  • Familiarity with web technologies (HTML, Perl / CGI, JavaScript, Java) is helpful for building simple tools and dashboards to improve visibility and accuracy.   Responsibilities Monitor contracts daily :

  • Track budgets, burn rates, deliverables, milestones, and contract value using automated systems and spreadsheets.
  • Maintain clean records :

  • Establish and update contract files, change logs, and documentation to ensure audit-ready accuracy.
  • Validate financials :

  • Reconcile invoices, purchase orders, and payments; verify funding and spending against contract terms.
  • Report clearly :

  • Prepare weekly / monthly financial reports and executive presentations showing status, risks, and variances.
  • Plan resources :

  • Assist with manpower and resource planning; provide data for forecasts, staffing, and scheduling decisions.
  • Support compliance :

  • Ensure deliverables meet contract guidelines; track due dates, approvals, and submission status.
  • Build simple tools :

  • Use web technologies (HTML, CGI / Perl, JavaScript, Java) to develop or enhance basic tracking pages, forms, or reports that streamline monitoring.
  • Collaborate :

  • Partner with project managers, finance, procurement, and vendors to resolve issues quickly and keep data aligned.   Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree preferred. 3+ years experience with monitoring / management systems for contracts or projects.
  • Knowledge of manpower / resource planning, cost reporting, and contract guidelines. 1+ year experience building simple web-based tools or pages using HTML, CGI / Perl, JavaScript, or Java.
  • Strong skills in spreadsheets and automated tracking systems; able to produce accurate reports and presentations.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable working with deadlines across multiple stakeholders.
  • Prior State contract experience.
