Summary
We are seeking a skilled and highly motivated temporary Research Associate to support our Cell Culture Core. Primary responsibilities include the onboarding, maintenance, expansion, and banking of mammalian cell lines. As part of the role, you will interact closely with the Automation team to test and improve automated cell culture methods. You will also be involved in generating assay-ready cells in a variety of formats for other research groups, and tracking / reporting requests through our LIMS system.
Responsibilities
- Undertake daily cell culture tasks including feeding, expansion, and cryopreservation
- Perform quantitative characterization of new cell banks
- Interact with researchers to determine material requirements for assay requests
- Perform daily operational checks, calibrations, and routine maintenance as required
- Conduct regular surveys of cultured cells for mycoplasma contamination
- Receive and prepare laboratory reagents, and record and update work using LIMS
- Maintain laboratory inventory, equipment, record-keeping and administrative tasks for cell line maintenance and related projects
- Draft and revise protocols and methods as required
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience working with mammalian tissue culturePrior work experience with culturing immortalized mammalian cells in both suspension and adherent formatsExcellent aseptic techniqueAttention to detail and good documentation practicesStrong verbal and written communication skills, and ability to work cross functionallyPreferred Skills :Familiarity with laboratory automation systems (liquid handlers, plate readers)
Experience with primary cell culture, iPSCs, or directed differentiation is a big plusCompetence with R, python, or similar programming language for data analysis...
