Job Overview :

The Reconditioning Specialist plays a vital role in the presentation and cleanliness of the dealerships inventory, ensuring vehicles are properly prepared for sale, delivery, and display. This position goes beyond just detailing and cleaning; it is integral to creating a positive first impression for customers both in-person and online. The role requires a keen eye for detail, a commitment to quality, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Reconditioning Specialist is responsible for making sure that all vehicles are thoroughly cleaned, polished, and free from imperfections, both inside and out, before they are delivered to customers or displayed on the lot.

Key Responsibilities :

Daily Vehicle Reconditioning :

Open the detail department each day, ensuring proper safety protocols are followed.

Check equipment for functionality to ensure all tools are in working order.

Seeking direction from the Sales team to determine daily priorities for reconditioning, including vehicles that may need additional attention for appointments or deliveries.

Perform detailed cleaning and inspection of vehicles, addressing all aspects of the cars exterior and interior condition.

Perform quality checks on vehicles to ensure they are cleaned, polished, and free from blemishes or defects.

Vehicle Delivery Preparation :

Ensure vehicles scheduled for delivery are properly cleaned.

If applicable, switch plates from trade-ins or install 60-day tags.

Inspect the vehicle one final time for any issues and notify the Sales team if something needs to be corrected before the customer takes delivery.

Inventory Maintenance :

Maintain a clean, orderly lot by washing vehicles on the lot regularly.

Additional Responsibilities :

Prioritize daily tasks and manage reconditioning workflow effectively, adjusting as needed for last-minute vehicle deliveries or customer requests.

Assist with other reconditioning tasks such as running errands or delivering vehicles for appointments as directed.

Work closely with the Sales and Service departments to ensure the best customer experience, maintaining open communication regarding vehicle status and preparation.

Required Skills and Qualifications :

High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering a high-quality finished product.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a dynamic environment.

Excellent communication skills to work with the Sales team and other departments to ensure vehicles are ready for delivery or display.

Basic knowledge of automotive cleaning and reconditioning techniques.

Ability to operate and maintain detailing equipment, including vacuums, power washers, and other related tools.

Strong time-management skills and the ability to work efficiently without constant supervision.
