TASK FORCE : Environmental Sustainability and Resiliency UNIT : Budget ESR JOB TITLE : One (1) Undergraduate / Graduate College Aide CONTROL CODE : ESR-26-02 SUMMARY : The Mayor's Office of Management and Budget (OMB) is the City government's chief financial agency. OMB's staff of analysts and experts assembles and oversees the Mayor's expense and capital budgets, which fund the services and activities of approximately 90 City agencies and entities. The OMB Environmental Sustainability and Resiliency (ESR) task force helps fulfilling this mission by integrating climate change mitigation and resiliency into the city's financial planning to address current and future climate risks. The ESR Task Force analyzes and tracks Citywide sustainability and resiliency funding and supports agencies and other OMB units in the formulation, design, and evaluation of policies and investments. Within ESR, the Budget Unit assesses the alignment of the City's investments with its climate goals and helps oversee the budget for the Mayor's Office of Climate and Environmental Justice. The intern will assist ESR's Budget Unit by becoming familiar with the New York City budget process in order to build capacity for budgetary review to identify potential opportunities for investment and to make recommendations on how to continue to incorporate sustainability, resiliency, and environmental justice work in NYC's Climate Budgeting process.
JOB DESCRIPTION : The undergraduate / graduate intern will contribute to assessing the climate impacts of the City's capital and expense budgets and develop the tools and analysis used to inform the third annual NYC Climate Budgeting publication, to be published in May 2026. The undergraduate / graduate intern will learn about the City's budget process and expand the OMB ESR task force's ability to evaluate budget decisions through this lens to achieve the goals of :

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION : Compensation / Duration : Undergraduate Intern $17 per hour Graduate Intern $20 per hour A cover letter is required to be considered for this position. Applications submitted without a cover letter will not be considered. The internship is available during the fall and spring semesters of the 2025 to 2026 school year. The internship will be part-time, with a maximum of 17 hours per week when school is in session. The schedule will be worked out with the selected candidate based on availability. The work must be done during the regular workday, between 8 : 00 a.m. and 6 : 00 p.m. no evenings or weekends.
