Description

Certified Veterinary Technician – Exotics Enthusiasts Encouraged to Apply

Location : Andover Animal Hospital, Andover, MA

Sign-on Bonus : $2,000 (which you can spend on snacks, scrubs, or more snacks — we’re not here to judge)

Are you a Certified Veterinary Technician (or a highly experienced tech who knows their stuff) who lights up at the thought of handling anything but just dogs and cats ? Do you get excited when a client walks in with a bearded dragon named Sir Hiss-a-Lot or a parrot who definitely has opinions? If so, we’ve got your next adventure.

Who we are :

We’re Andover Animal Hospital — a 10-doctor, AAHA-accredited, full-service animal hospital in beautiful Andover, MA. We provide top-tier care to dogs, cats, birds, exotics, and pocket pets, and we take our role in the human-animal bond very seriously (but ourselves? Not always).

What you'll actually do here :

You’ll be a key part of our medical team — collaborating with doctors, advocating for patients, and doing way more than restraining pets. We’ll use your full range of technical skills, including but not limited to :

Diagnostic sample collection

IV catheter placement (bonus if you can do it with one hand while comforting a nervous guinea pig with the other)

Venipuncture

Radiology (including the wiggly, flighty, and scaly varieties)

Anesthesia and pain management

Dental radiographs and cleanings

General wizardry with exotic species

Who you are :

A Certified Veterinary Technician (or equivalent experience — we know skill when we see it)

Experienced (2+ years preferred), confident, and always looking to learn

A team player who lifts up coworkers and laughs off the occasional poop-in-pocket incident

Compassionate, curious, and not easily flustered (especially when the ferret escapes)

Big on communication, low on drama

Emotionally prepared to fall in love with a rabbit named Biscuit

Why you’ll want to work here :

$2,000 sign-on bonus

Competitive pay and full benefits package

Medical, dental, vision, 401k with company match

Paid time off that you’re actually encouraged to use

Employee assistance program (because we all need support sometimes)

Discounts for your own furry, feathered, or scaled companions

A collaborative team that supports each other and works hard without the toxic nonsense

Andover Animal Hospital is a proud United Veterinary Care partner. That means you get all the benefits of being part of a larger network, while still working in a practice that feels like home — quirky pets, snack stash, inside jokes, and all.
