Overview
Licensed Sign Language Interpreter (1st and 2nd Shift Position) – Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for two Licensed Sign Language Interpreters, one on 1st Shift and one on 2nd Shift, to work in the Deaf Services Department on a co-ed deaf unit. The primary focus of this position is to provide interpreting services for patients diagnosed with mental illness and / or co-occurring substance use disorders and to hospital staff within a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate works well with others, performs well under pressure, and is extremely flexible with scheduling.
Responsibilities
Work Schedule and Shifts
The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday. On-call coverage is required for weekends and holidays on a rotating schedule among a team of four Sign Language Interpreters. Flexibility is required daily to meet patient needs.
This position is designated mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.
Qualifications and Requirements
Management preferences
Bachelor's degree in an interpreter training program from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of professional interpreting experience in a community, business, or government program, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualification : If applicable as defined by GS 90D, meets the licensure requirements as determined by the North Carolina Interpreter and Transliterator Licensing Board.
