Description :
The registered nurse (RN) is responsible and accountable for the overall management of nursing care provided to patients.
This role involves assuring competent, compassionate, and cost-effective patient care from admission to discharge.
The RN ensures the safety, comfort, personal hygiene, and protection of patients and performs disease prevention and restorative measures.
The RN will respond to medical and environmental emergencies efficiently and calmly.
The RN plans and coordinates the delivery of care to maximize efficient care delivery while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
The RN serves as a liaison between nursing and medical staff to facilitate a collaborative approach to patient care.
The RN coordinates the involvement of patients, families, physicians, and other health team members to manage care and optimize outcomes.
In complex and routine situations, the RN sets priorities for providing patient care.
The RN exercises clinical judgment and critical thinking across all aspects of the nursing process.
Timely administration of treatments, medications, and nursing skills is required.
Continuous monitoring of patient conditions and communication with physicians regarding significant changes is essential.
The RN conducts ongoing assessments of patients and families, considering multiple factors including biophysical and psychosocial needs.
Development of individualized plan of care involves collaboration with patients, families, and other disciplines.
Documentation and communication of patient assessment, plan of care, outcomes, and other relevant information are crucial.
The RN evaluates the effectiveness of the care plan and collaborates with patients and other health team members to make modifications as needed.
The RN must be skilled in various nursing tasks, including pain assessment and management, care of ventilated patients, and administering narcotics and reversal agents.
Additional skills required include managing arterial lines, recognizing and managing dysrhythmias, and providing care for diverse patient populations.
Completing patient education and discharge planning efficiently is expected.
