Job Title : Application Developer

Job Location : Downtown Houston, TX 77002

  • Prospective candidates MUST be located in the HOUSTON, TX area

Job Type : Contract / Full Time

  • This contract position has a duration of 1 year

    • Job Schedule : Mon-Fri 8AM-5PM

  • Hybrid - see below

    • Job Salary : $60-$62

  • Depending on experience
  • Hybrid - The hybrid work schedule will be at the discretion of the direct manager.

    • Project

    Application Repair & Replace

    The system serves as the primary repository for the company's information capture and is the principal source for it's internal and external data reporting.

    This project supports upgrading the current application from Java 8 to Java 21 and assists with Azure Disaster Recovery (DR) efforts.

    Role and Responsibilities of the Resource Request

    Java Application Developers will be responsible for analysis, testing, and development activities. They may also assist with batch report development and support. Responsibilities include direct customer interaction, collaboration with team members, and participation in project-related meetings and ceremonies.

    Key Responsibilities :

  • Perform testing and debugging of applications
  • Conduct problem-solving and data analysis
  • Provide integration support
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Develop SQL scripts as needed
  • Coordinate with the development team to address existing backlog
  • Support items in the maintenance phase
  • Validate requirements documents and user stories

    • Scheduled Milestones and Deliverables

  • Track completed sprints every three (3) weeks
  • Provide ongoing enhancement support (no defined end date)
  • Upgrade system application to the latest version
  • Establish and mimic production setup in collaboration with Microsoft for Azure DR

    • Metrics to Measure Resource Performance

  • Financial : Budget and cost control performance
  • Schedule Variance : Adherence to project timelines and sprint goals
  • Quality / Customer Satisfaction : End-user and stakeholder feedback
  • Productivity Monitoring / Problem Solving : Issue resolution rate and contribution to backlog reduction

    • Requirements

    Education

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field

    • Technical Proficiency

  • Strong experience in Java development, including application upgrades (Java 8 to Java 21 preferred)
  • Proficiency in SQL for scripting, troubleshooting, and data analysis
  • Familiarity with Azure cloud services, especially Disaster Recovery (DR) configuration and support
  • Skilled in application testing, debugging, and integration support
  • Ability to produce and maintain clear technical documentation

    • Development & Collaboration

  • Experience working in Agile environments with sprint tracking and backlog management
  • Ability to validate requirements and user stories
  • Comfortable participating in project meetings and collaborating with cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills for direct stakeholder interaction
