Job Description & Requirements Specialty : Med Surg / Telemetry Discipline : RN Start Date : 10 / 27 / 2025 Duration : 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift : 12 hours, nights Employment Type : Travel Job Description American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Med / Surg Tele position in New York with strong dysrhythmia management skills and required ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications. Responsibilities Work in a Med / Surg Telemetry unit at a certified stroke center Patient population includes cardiac, respiratory, infectious disease, COVID, pre- and post-operative, endocrine, and CVA cases Patient ratios are 1 : 5 on days and 1 : 6 on nights Night shifts available from 18 : 45 to 07 : 15 with scheduling options of 36 or 48 hours per week Every other weekend required May float to sister units including West 2, West 3, and Observation unit Unit uses Epic for documentation and Pyxis for medication dispensing Responsibilities include comprehensive care of a varied patient population including those requiring acute cardiac and respiratory interventions Maintain clinical competence in stroke care as part of a certified stroke center team Adhere to strict isolation precautions and infection control protocols 12-hour unit orientation provided prior to first shift Maximum of 7 days of requested time off allowed during assignment First time travelers will be considered Requirements Active NY RN license required Minimum of 1 year recent RN experience in Med / Surg Tele Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications required Proficiency in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, IV insulin protocols, accessing ports, blood product administration, peripheral line and PICC management, starting IVs, and heparin protocols Experience with CVA, seizure disorders, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, chest tubes (Emerson / Pleur-evac), external CPAP / BIPAP, HFNC, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy management, and wound care / wound vac Epic charting experience required Applicants must live more than 50 miles from the facility Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-617190.
