Field Sales Team Lead

We are seeking a highly motivated Field Sales Team Lead to build and lead our Chicago-based field sales team, focused on enrolling low-to-moderate income (LMI) households into Illinois Shinesapproved community solar projects. This is a pivotal role where you will directly manage and grow a team of field sales agents, oversee enrollment execution, and represent Common Energy within the Chicago community.
The Sales Lead will report to the VP of Growth and work closely with our Sales, Operations, and Customer Service teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of 1015 door-to-door sales agents.
- Provide coaching, performance feedback, and field training to ensure professionalism and compliance.
- Lead local canvassing campaigns in priority Chicago neighborhoods to enroll LMI residents.
- Deliver on assigned kWh enrollment goals and build-out acquisition strategy
- Track daily / weekly performance and present results and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Continuously optimize field strategies to improve conversion and retention.
- Provide insights from the field to inform sales strategy, process improvements, and potential expansion to additional Illinois markets.
- Act as a community-facing representative of Common Energy, building trust with residents and local leaders.
Qualifications
3+ years of door-to-door or field sales experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership / management capacity.Must live within Northern IllinoisProven success meeting or exceeding sales KPIs; renewable energy or retail energy experience strongly preferred.Strong understanding of and commitment to working within low-income communities; existing Chicago LMI housing / community connections are a plus.Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.Comfort working in a fast-paced, startup-like environment with evolving goals.Must be based in Illinois (preferably the Chicago region) and willing to travel within the state as needed.remote work
