POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT
A Dock Experts Marine Construction Superintendent plans, coordinates, leads a team of tradesman, coordinates with contractors, and performs construction work duties on daily, weekly, and project-based activities for our marine construction projects. High levels of integrity, accountability, foresight, and an unshakable ability to maintain and inspire a consis tent positive, can-do attitude are necessary in upholding TDX quality and safety standards while disrupting and challenging the industry status quo. This role requires the ability to swim, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., bend, twist, reach, and a valid driver’s license with reliable personal transportation to commute to and from work .
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Ensure an exceptional end-to-end project experience in planning, demolition, construction, installation, service, & maintenance of marine structures such as docks, decks, & piers, both through leading others, and through performing construction work tasks
Provide guidance and oversight in drafting, feasibility, permitting requirements, and be the liaison between the permitting, drafting, and engineering teams, verifying that the quality of materials, equipment, and workmanship complies with contract specifications and relevant codes
Develop project schedules in collaboration with branch leadership
Provide daily written reports on updates & communicate expectations with the team, anticipating current and future project needs
Ensure your team has the necessary materials, safety equipment, supervision, standard operating procedure (SOP) training, coaching, & mentorship to complete projects within TDX standards
Provide quality control oversight of work, both team & self-performed
Participate in project meetings, be a liaison between field engineers & your team to ensure project components comply with drawings / specifications
Work with engineering staff to ensure plans, specifications, submittals & RFIs are transmitted to accurately and timely
Participate in hiring, & performance decisions including dismissal as needed
Develop leadership potential through appropriate task assignments & career growth opportunities
Productively, and respectfully resolve conflicts and disputes, both personal and within your team and other company personnel
Maintain positive and professional relationships with all visitors to the site : customers, architects, inspectors, subcontractors, etc.
Analyze job safety and efficiency and provide proactive suggestions and solutions for improvement
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
ESSENTIAL JOB, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Construction and / or 5+ years in marine construction or related field
Minimum 5 years’ experience in construction, preferably marine construction
Experience managing construction projects including budgeting, scheduling, & resource planning
Strong problem-solving skills, ability to make sound decisions & take decisive action quickly
Experience leading a team, with the ability to effectively communicate and consistently motivate to keep projects on or ahead of schedule, often in tough working conditions
Possess a working knowledge of engineering drawings, sketches, and blueprints
Physical stamina to walk, stand, bend, and lift heavy objects (50+ lbs.) regularly
Ability to work a full shift in challenging outdoor conditions, including extreme heat and marine environments
Ability to swim, work at heights, & in confined spaces, as required by certain projects
Ability to pass a controlled substance screening
Ability to pass a background check
Maintain a current, valid driver’s license
Maintain reliable personal transportation to commute to and from work
Conversational in English
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS
OSHA 10 & OSHA 30 Certified
CPR & First Aid Certified
Class A CDL license
Bilingual (English / Spanish)
