American Traveler is seeking a PCU RN with current IN or Compact license, ACLS and BLS certifications, and at least 18 months of stepdown or tele experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in a Cardiac and Medical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with an ICU stepdown settingPatient population includes cardiac, medical stepdown, and patients requiring heart caths, drips, BiPAP, and high-flow oxygenCare of patients requiring telemetry, cardiac and vasoactive drips (Levo, Dopa, Nitro, Cardizem, Amio), and BiPAPHandles crisis criteria in PCU and participates in Code / Crisis managementRequires floating within the hospital and to affiliate hospitals as neededNight shifts, 3x12-hour schedule (18 : 00-06 : 30)Uses Cerner EMR, Cerner experience preferred but not requiredNo on-call requiredWeekend shifts requiredDaily duties involve care of complex stepdown cardiac and medical patients, titrating drips, and managing non-invasive ventilationRed scrub top and black pants requiredFree parking availableAll travelers required to float as neededMust be able to work 2 of 3 major holidays during the contractFirst-time travelers welcomeFormer IU permanent or PRN employees must have a 12-month break before applying as a travelerRTO of up to 5 days may be approved automatically; additional requests require facility approval\n \n Requirements\n
Active IN or Compact RN license in hand prior to startA minimum of 18 months of PCU, stepdown, or telemetry RN experience requiredCurrent AHA or RQI ACLS and BLS certifications requiredNIH Stroke Scale certification preferredAbility to start IVs and manage cardiac & vasoactive drips, as well as BiPAP and high-flow oxygen requiredExperience with Level I-IV acuity, ventilators, and conscious sedation preferredCharting experience with Cerner is a plusGraduation from an ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing program requiredNot accepting local candidates for this position\n Benefits\n
