The Opportunity : We seek an energetic, motivated, and skilled Financial Reporting & Analysis Director to join our team. As a Financial Reporting & Analysis Director, you will be part of an interdisciplinary reporting and analysis team in our Controller’s department that can execute on management reporting while leveraging and maintaining key reporting systems to optimize, compile and analyze the Company’s financial results, collaborate with finance teams throughout the CFO organization, and present financial results to senior management.

The Team

The Management, Statutory Audited and Regulatory Reporting team is part of MassMutual’s Corporate Finance Organization. The team delivers timely and accurate financial reporting data to internal and external customers while executing financial reporting controls. We support cross-functional strategic initiatives across the enterprise, optimization, and oversee our business partners’ results. The Impact

As a Financial Reporting & Analysis Director, you will manage the production and delivery of management reports, support management through discussion / analysis, maintain key financial reporting systems, and collaborate with internal and external customers to execute on financial reporting controls. To accomplish this, you will :

  • Develop, maintain and enhance financial reports, dashboards and data visualization to provide insights on financial results and support decision-making by management. This includes gathering requirements for reports and dashboards from stakeholders
  • Develop ad hoc reports and analysis in response to stakeholder inquiries or business needs
  • Demonstrate business acumen to interpret product results to timely and accurately produce management reports for Senior Management, Executive Leaders and the Board of Directors
  • Monitor, execute and document key controls, including tie-outs of system outputs, validation of product results, and accuracy of year-over-year and quarter-over-quarter results
  • Analyze data to proactively answer key questions for stakeholders
  • Supervise offshore team members to timely and accurately execute query refreshes and quality assurance reviews
  • Work in a fast-paced and agile environment to meet or exceed deadlines
  • Maximize the value and optimize reports created by the team
  • Prepare insightful analysis to convey the underlying story to key constituents in a timely, clear and concise manner
  • Follow the daily quarterly close process, track and follow up on notable items
  • Lead and participate in complex cross-functional projects
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiencies within the reporting processes beyond the scope of responsibilities listed

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience working with management reports
  • 3+ years of experience with general ledger reporting cubes, warehouses and / or data lakes
  • The Ideal Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Expertise in management reporting systems and upstream inputs (Power BI, Alteryx, SAP)
  • Strong demonstrated financial analysis and reporting background
  • Knowledge of advanced insurance and investment statutory accounting principles
  • Knowledge of tools, applications, and / or queries to create and configure new reports, dashboards & decision-making analytics
  • Skilled in validating and testing data & reports to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Customer focus, change & innovation, strategic thinking, relationship building & influencing
  • Expert knowledge of Power BI, Alteryx, SAP, Excel and PowerPoint
  • CPA or advanced degree in accounting
