WE MANUFACTURE FUN!! Cardinal Systems Inc. is one of the nation's largest technologically advanced manufacturers of galvanized steel walls for in-ground swimming pools. In addition to steel walls, we manufacture steel steps and benches, aluminum coping, liner track, deck drains, liner bead and other custom fabrications.
We are seeking a skilled Plastic Extrusion Supervisor for 2nd shift to lead daily operations in our extrusion department. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production while maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures. The supervisor will oversee equipment setup and adjustments, monitor production schedules, maintain accurate inventory and reporting, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate will provide strong leadership by training, mentoring, and supporting employees, while ensuring adherence to safety protocols, production goals, and quality standards. Responsibilities include managing staffing levels, scheduling, performance evaluations, and employee development. The supervisor will also collaborate with management and other departments to ensure smooth workflow, cost efficiency, and timely completion of production requirements.
This position requires a hands-on leader with advanced technical troubleshooting skills, a deep understanding of extrusion processes and Global Shop procedures, and a commitment to fostering a safe, productive, and engaged workplace.
Essential Functions
Production Knowledge & Process Management
- Full understanding of work instructions, production standards, process flows, safety procedures, quality standards, and SOPs.
- Advanced knowledge of Global Shop procedures including : clocking in / out of jobs, daily production & material transfers, checking inventory status, verifying completion of pick tickets, completing daily tasks and troubleshooting issues.
- Knowledge of production, inventory, and staging locations of finished goods.
- Ability to properly set up, change over, and adjust all equipment within the department.
- Maintain accurate production and quality reporting.
- Ensure production operations meet or exceed scheduled requirements efficiently and safely.
Safety & Compliance
Provide the safest workplace possible by modeling and enforcing all company safety policies.Ensure proper use of PPE and compliance with safety protocols.Report and investigate accidents, incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions.Develop corrective actions and participate actively in the safety committee.Conduct routine safety audits.Quality Control & Continuous Improvement
Inspect manufactured products using appropriate quality inspection tools.Lead and participate in continuous improvement activities.Ensure adherence to quality expectations across all shifts.Provide technical troubleshooting support to maintain high productivity and product quality.Equipment & Inventory
Safely and effectively operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.Maintain accurate inventory counts and investigate variances.Coordinate staffing, materials, quality control, and maintenance to achieve productivity targets.Leadership & Employee Management
Set clear expectations regarding safety, production, and quality.Manage day-to-day operations, including scheduling, staffing, and shift oversight.Train, mentor, and support employees; ensure department leads are capable of acting as backups.Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, corrective action, and succession planning.Manage conflict resolution and employee relations issues professionally.Review / approve timecards, manage time-off requests, and balance workforce requirements.Engage employees in career development and maintain high morale.Communication & Collaboration
Work with other departments to ensure job assignments are completed on time.Share company communications and departmental updates with all team members.Provide detailed reporting to management regarding safety, production, and quality.Collaborate closely with management staff to address productivity, quality, and employee performance concerns.Workplace Standards
Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas (good housekeeping practices).Ensure operations meet cost, quality, and output goals.Education & Experience :
High school Diploma or equivalent (GED)Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experiencePrevious Supervisory or Lead experience in a manufacturing environment requiredPrevious profile extrusion experience preferred2nd Shift 3 : 45 PM - 12 : 00 AM (Monday - Friday)
