Health Record Content Analyst
The Health Record Content Analyst plays a key part in protecting the integrity and accuracy of Valleywise Health’s legal health records. Working closely with Epic IT staff, the position conducts detailed audits to ensure that printed records align with the corresponding clinical data within Epic. The role also manages high-profile, legal, and risk-related requests for protected health information (PHI), ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory requirements while mitigating organizational risk.
This position serves as a vital communication link between the ROI team, Risk Management, and Legal Departments by providing timely updates on sensitive requests and ensuring the delivery of precise, high-quality information. Additionally, the role supports quality assurance efforts, drives process improvements, and contributes to initiatives that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness across HIM operations.
Hourly Pay Rate : $21.34 - $31.48
Qualifications
Education :
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Working towards or completion of an Associate degree program is preferred.
Experience :
Must have a minimum of four (4) years of Health Information Management experience working with an Electronic Health Record system that demonstrates a strong understanding of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Specialized Training :
Must complete Valleywise Health provided training related to HIPAA, state, and federal regulations as it pertains to health records.
Epic system training is preferred.
Certification / Licensure :
Prefer certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS) through AHIMA.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
Requires the ability to work well independently in a fast-paced environment.
Must demonstrate the ability to learn within a short period. Must demonstrate proficiency in HIM database systems, Electronic Health Records (EHR), and Electronic Document Management (EDM) systems.
Must demonstrate knowledge of HIPAA privacy and security regulations as evidenced by appropriately handling PHI, promoting confidentiality, and using discretion when handling patient information.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software (i.e., Word, Excel, and Outlook).
Must be able to categorize data in electronic and hard copy formats.
Must possess good interpersonal communication and strong customer service skills both verbally and in writing, including knowledge of basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Requires the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
Requires excellent organizational and team-building skills.
Must be quality-conscious and customer oriented.
Strong attention to detail is required.
Must be able to influence and adjust positively to change and follow through on all assignments.
Must be self-motivated and able to plan work activities and set effective priorities that are aligned with departmental and Valleywise Health operational and fiscal goals.
Requires knowledge in the use of a computer, fax machine, copier, and scanner.
Requires the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
