Must-Have :

1 year of postpartum experience

Description :

The unit consists of postpartum beds.

An average of 3-4 births occurs per day, totaling around 1100 per year.

Ratios follow established guidelines with a maximum of 4 couplets.

Required certifications include NRP, fetal monitoring, and BLS.

Typical diagnoses include postpartum mothers and newborns.

Registered Nurses are not required to titrate drips.

There are no nurse aids or surgical techs on this unit.

A designated OB / Neonatologist is available 24 / 7.

Equipment utilized includes pulse oximeters.

There is no telemetry or monitor techs; RNs read strips.

Fetal monitoring systems include Fetal Link and Cerner.

Scheduling is for three times a week with weekend and holiday requirements.

RNs may be placed on standby if the census is low.

Scrub color is Navy Blue.

A single day of unit-specific orientation is provided.

Cancellation policies allow for shifts to be canceled based on assignment length.
