Structural Bridge Engineer Experience / Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
- 5+ years of bridge-related design and inspection
- Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.)
- Ideally certified as an MDOT Qualified Team Leader (QTL) which includes :
Successful completion of NHI-130055 Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges course.
Successful completion of 18 hours of approved bridge inspection recurrent training over the last 5 years.Successful completion of the Field Proficiency Exam in the last 2 years.Knowledge of MDOT QA / QC policies and procedures.Analysis, inspection, design and development of contract documents for bridges, low rise buildings, water / wastewater and specialty structures in steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete, timber and masonryStrong organizational, analytical and problem solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skillsExperience with various design methodologies such as ASD, LFD and LRFDExperience with structural engineering programs such as RISA-3D, LEAP Bridge Enterprise, AASHTOWare, LEAP Consys and EnercalcProficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and BluebeamValid driver's licenseStructural Bridge Engineer Responsibilities :
Design and develop contract documents for bridge and non-bridge projects, including plans, technical specifications, reports and structural cost estimatesPerform routine and detailed inspections for various types of structuresMentor fellow team members on bridge-related projectsGenerate, explain and backcheck multiple rounds of detailed markups with CAD Technicians to bring drawings from start to finishOversee project development and schedulingAssist with the development of proposals and budgetsReview and approve construction documents such as shop drawings, RFIs, and Change OrdersSeal and sign project documentsInterface with clients both during the project and upon completion to promote client loyalty and secure future workStructural Bridge Engineer Benefits :
