Location : This position will be located out of our Fishers office and surrounding job sites.

Job Summary :

The Safety Intern will support project teams in promoting and maintaining a safe work environment across company operations. This role provides hands-on experience in both field and office settings, offering exposure to construction safety management, compliance, and overall project operations. Interns will assist with safety initiatives, site observations, and training efforts while gaining practical knowledge of construction practices and building a strong foundation for a career in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project safety activities with project teams and members of the safety department.
  • Assist with incident and near-miss investigations, including documentation and follow-up.
  • Facilitate and manage jobsite safety inspections to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify potential hazards associated with construction work and help develop practical, effective solutions.
  • Deliver safety training sessions as needed to employees and subcontractors.
  • Advise individuals, subcontractors, and employees on safe work practices and corrective measures.
  • Identify opportunities for improvement in safety processes and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Input and verify accuracy of safety records for prequalification efforts to support pursuit of potential and ongoing projects.
  • Promote and model the companys safety culture through daily actions, communication, and leadership.
  • Assist in the development of site-specific safety plans for new and existing projects.
  • Travel to project sites as required to support field safety operations.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Occupational Safety and Health, Safety Management, Risk Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career in commercial construction safety.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; exposure to construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, CMiC) is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas at this time.
