About the Opportunity
Medix is partnering with a client to staff a crucial Travel Occupational Therapist role for their facility located in Indiana. This is an excellent opportunity within a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly ( PACE ), a comprehensive healthcare model dedicated to empowering seniors to age in place, living safely and independently in their homes and communities.
You will be joining a brand new PACE center , which offers coordinated healthcare in a vibrant, community-based setting often described as a "YMCA for adults." This is a unique chance to help build the center's patient load as the census grows, with potential for long-term placements and assignments at new centers expanding across the country.
Location : Jeffersonville, Indiana
Facility Type : Outpatient (Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly - PACE)
Start Date : November 3rd
Length of Assignment : 13 Weeks (Option for 6 months)
State License Needed : Valid State Licensure as a Registered Occupational Therapist
Pay : Competitive compensation packages, including rate ranges and possible stipends, will be thoroughly discussed with your dedicated Medix recruiter.
Shift : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 00 / 4 : 30 PM (5 eight-hour shifts).
Call / Weekends : No on-call, weekends, or evening shifts.
Role & Responsibilities
As the Occupational Therapist, you will plan and administer therapy programs to maintain and / or restore function, relieve pain, and prevent further disability for active PACE participants. Your focus will be on improving their ability to perform everyday activities.
Your day-to-day duties will include :
Assessment & Treatment : Completing evaluations, administering treatment programs, and ramping up to a target caseload of approximately 10 scheduled patients per day as the center census increases.
Functional Focus : The majority of therapy treatments will focus on helping participants improve their ability to perform daily activities, including :
Mobility : Assisting with equipment like walkers, wheelchairs, and crutches.
Dressing / Grooming : Utilizing adaptive equipment such as dressing sticks and sock aids.
Bathing / Toileting : Recommending and educating on shower chairs, grab bars, and transfer benches.
Coordination : Providing assessments and coordinating care with the Primary Care Physician (PCP) and other interdisciplinary team members.
Documentation : Completing all required clinical documentation, including assessments, progress notes, and care plans, according to departmental policy and procedure.
Instruction : Providing clinical instruction to COTAs and Occupational Therapy students.
Schedule & Setting
Patient Population : Elderly participants (age 55+) who are active and mobile enough to be eligible for the PACE program.
Facility Amenities : You will be working in a new center equipped with a full gym featuring brand-new equipment, including parallel bars, bands, weights, and balls.

Job Requirements
Experience : Minimum of 1 year of experience working with the geriatric population is required.
Education : Master’s Degree required, with successful completion of an Occupational Therapy program from an accredited university or equivalent.
License : Valid State licensure as a Registered Occupational Therapist.
