FLSA Status : Non-Exempt
Time Status : .5 FTE (20 hours a week) Monday-Friday 2-6 With the occasional weekend during TYC events.
TS Range : 3 / 4 ($16.96)

SUMMARY : The homework & Recreation Support Aide provides supervision, guidance, and support to youth during afterschool programs. This position assists youth with homework, promotes positive behavior and helps facilitate engaging cultural activities in a safe environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of basic algebra and geometry, equations, measurements, formulas, etc. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY : Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : Must have valid Washington State Driver’s License; Current First Aid, and CPR certification. Successful applicant must also pass a WATCH, and Tribal background check.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk and hear, and is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms; and frequently required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. This position may occasionally require lifting up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities to perform the essential functions include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

OTHER : This position will have knowledge of confidential personal information regarding others. The employee will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement and adhere to applicable standards. Any violation in this matter will result in termination of employment.
There will be no tolerance of the abuse of alcohol or use of illegal drugs while employed in the Squaxin Island Tu Ha’ Buts Learning Center. Use of tobacco in front of youth is not permitted. Any violation of these policies is cause for immediate termination.
DRUG FREE WORKPLACE : The successful candidate will be required to have a urinalysis for drug and alcohol screening in
accordance with the Tribe’s Drug Free Workplace Policy.
INDIAN PREFERENCE : Indian Preference will be exercised in the hiring of this position in accordance with the Tribe’s Personnel

Requirements :
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE : High school diploma or GED and one year of experience or 3 years of relevant experience.
