Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med / Surg Tele position requiring a NY RN license and Epic proficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a 26-bed Med / Surg Telemetry unit within a tertiary care hospital
  • Patient population includes post PCI, pacemakers, AICDs, post MI, and cardiac pharmacological interventions
  • Typical patient ratio is 1 : 5 to 1 : 7
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts (19 : 00-07 : 00)
  • Required to work every other weekend and holidays
  • Floating required as directed by the facility
  • Uses Epic EMR system
  • Responsible for care of patients recovering from cardiac procedures and interventions
  • Must be able to maintain isolation precautions as needed
  • Scrub attire must be any combination of navy and white
  • Holiday coverage is required based on department needs
  • Return staff must have at least a 1-year gap since prior assignment at facility
  • Pre-start modules required, with up to 5 hours compensated

    • Requirements

  • Active NY RN license in hand is required for consideration
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum of 1 year Med / Surg Tele nursing experience
  • Proficiency in Epic charting system required
  • Experience in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, rapid response / code protocols, and peripheral IV therapy
  • Ability to manage respiratory therapies including nasal cannula, oxygen masks, portable oxygen tanks, and non-invasive airway management
  • Must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
