Sales Manager For Events And Conferences

The Sales Manager for the Office of Events and Conferences is responsible for driving revenue by selling event and conference spaces and related services within the Cintas Center, broader campus, and Summer Programs. This role focuses on identifying new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and closing sales for events and conferences hosted by the University for external clients.

Essential Functions :

  • Sales & Business Development : (50%)
  • Identify and engage with prospective clients through cold calling, networking, and market research.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of leads for corporate events, trade shows, conferences, arena events, and special events.
  • Generate revenue by selling event spaces and related event services.
  • Proactively source new business by developing relationships with corporate clients, event planners, and agencies.
  • Develop and implement a lead generation strategy with Key Performance Indicators identified across a multitude of platforms.
  • Lead sales efforts by representing the department at expos and engagement opportunities to build partnerships and generate business.
  • Client Relationship Management : (20%)
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, ensuring repeat business and customer loyalty.
  • Prepare and present customized proposals based on client needs and objectives.
  • Negotiate terms and pricing to meet both the client's and University objectives.
  • Collaboration & Coordination : (20%)
  • Work closely with internal departments such as marketing, operations, and event coordinators to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to create promotional materials and sales collateral.
  • Coordinate site visits, event tours, and meetings with potential clients and key stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update department website(s) to drive new lead traffic.
  • Manage sales budget in coordination with Director and Business Operations Manager.
  • Reporting & Analysis : (10%)
  • Track sales activities, pipeline development, and client interactions.
  • Identify opportunities for change related to non-closure of client deals and threats to success.
  • Prepare and present regular sales reports to the Director.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitors, and market conditions to identify opportunities for business growth.

Experience And Education :

Bachelor's degree required

1-3 years of relevant experience

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities :

Depth of knowledge : Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations.

Advanced communication (written and verbal) skills and project / process management skills,

Intermediate analytical skills, computer / technical skills, office / administrative support skills, and equipment operation skills
