JOB OVERVIEW :
The Senior Manager, Procurement - CapEx & Indirect is a key member of the Procurement team, reporting directly to the Director of Global Procurement. This role is responsible for leading and executing the strategic sourcing and procurement activities for the capital expenditure (CapEx) and indirect categories, including but not limited to, business service / facilities, HR, travel, professional services, marketing, IT, sustainability, quality, and accounting / finance. This Senior Manager, Procurement also oversees our Business Services / Facilities team. For CapEx, this role will be responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for capital projects potentially including equipment, construction services, engineering services, and large-scale facility investments. This role ensures alignment among business goals, cost optimization, supplier relationship management (SRM), and continuous improvement of procurement policies.
The Procurement organization at Blue Diamond Growers is on a journey to create a "best-in-class" sourcing organization, and this role is critical in delivering on that mission. This is a very strategic and cross-functional role. Management of the CapEx and indirect categories will include everything from partnering with internal business partners to align on sourcing needs and to develop a sourcing / category strategy; identifying and implementing savings opportunities within those categories; leading SRM (including quarterly business reviews, scorecards, etc); executing RFIs / RFPs; and negotiating contracts. Additionally, the Senior Manager, Procurement - CapEx & Indirect has a team of three (Procurement Manager, Facilities Supervisor, and Facilities Coordinator).
RESPONSIBILITIES :
Strategic Sourcing & Category Management :
- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for the CapEx and key indirect spend categories
- Manage competitive bidding (RFQs, RFIs, RFPs), contract negotiations, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis to ensure best value, quality, and service
- Drive best-in-class procurement practices for CapEx projects, ensuring value creation, cost optimization, supplier and contract compliance, and alignment with project timelines and quality standards (in partnership with Engineering Project Managers)
- Conduct comprehensive market research to stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and supplier landscapes
Stakeholder Engagement :
Collaborate with internal business partners and / or project managers to understand procurement needs and align sourcing strategiesAct as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and cross-functional business partners on procurement-related mattersContribute to project risk assessments and mitigation strategies from a procurement perspectiveEnsure procurement activities are aligned with capital planning and investment approval processesDeveloping New Processes :
Create and roll-out new procurement processes / standard operating procedure (SOP) for CapEx in collaboration with the engineering, manufacturing, and legal teams, based on best practices and industry standardsTrain project managers and other stakeholders on these new processes in order to ensure adherence for all projects and contractsCreate "procurement guidelines" for purposes of training other departments on procurement best practices, contracts, timelines, etcEnsure all procurement activities for CapEx and indirect spend categories comply with the Procurement Policy, our strategic sourcing process, and these new guidelines / SOPsSupplier Relationship Management and Contract Management :
Manage key supplier relationships to ensure performance, risk mitigation, and value deliveryNegotiate complex commercial terms, service level agreements, and performance guaranteesDrive continuous improvement and innovation from suppliersFoster strong mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers to ensure high quality, service, and valueEnsure supplier compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards throughout the project lifecycleCost Optimization & Risk Management :
Conduct spend analysis and market intelligence, in addition to understanding the business' and the specific department's strategic priorities, to identify and execute cost-saving opportunitiesDrive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or delivery timelinesWork closely with the Finance team to forecast, track, and analyze cost-savings from the CapEx and indirect categoriesMonitor and manage procurement risks, including supply chain disruptions, inflation / tariffs, and contractual liabilitiesPolicy and Compliance :
Ensure procurement processes comply with internal policies, legal requirements, and ethical standardsTrack and report CapEx procurement KPIs, including savings, contract coverage, and supplier performanceSupport audit, compliance, and financial reporting requirements related to CapEx investmentsDrive adoption of procurement tools, processes, and best practices across the organizationAssist in developing a Supplier Code of ConductLeadership and Communication :
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of procurement professionalsAct as a leader within Procurement (as part of the Procurement Leadership team), within the Supply Chain group, and across the broader organizationFoster a high-performance culture focused on accountability and resultsClearly communicate procurement activities and strategies to senior managementEffectively document, communicate, and gain consensus across the organization to ensure alignmentMINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, economics, finance, engineering, or a related field (MBA or relevant certification such as CPSM, CIPS preferred)10 years or more of progressive procurement experience, especially strategic sourcing and in leadershipExperience in CapEx and indirect procurement is strongly preferred, especially knowledge of the various key components and negotiation tactics for marketing, IT, CapEx, and service-related contractsRequired in-depth knowledge of the sourcing processStrong analytical, negotiation, and contract management skillsProven track record of developing sourcing strategies, negotiating excellent contracts, delivering cost-savings, improving supplier performance, and influencing stakeholdersStrong financial acumen and understanding of investment lifecycle and capital budgetingExperience with eProcurement tools and ERP systems, especially SAP and AribaExcellent communication, leadership, and project management skills in order to drive aggressive implementation plans and schedulesMust be able to problem-solve and handle multiple projects and stakeholder needsAbility to work efficientlyCommitment to ethical procurement practices and continuous improvementPeople management / leadership skills - ability to help guide and coach direct reports with business and professional development goals5-15% travel requiredPREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
