Overview

Principal Product Manufacturing Engineer (onsite) at Pratt & Whitney. This role requires U.S. citizenship and onsite presence at Middletown, CT. No security clearance is required.

Responsibilities

  • With specific parts ownership, drive manufacturing process improvements across multiple process steps spanning the full value stream of the parts.
  • Provide focused and effective leadership in advancing MRL elements to identify and mitigate manufacturing risk, achieving superior quality performance.
  • Identify and implement process optimization and control methods to eliminate / prevent quality turnbacks / escapes and reduce overall product costs.
  • As a key member of the Integrated Product Team (IPT), interact with product designers, tool designers, ESA, quality assurance, and other stakeholders.
  • Drive targeted manufacturing process optimization activities using MRL tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans, Measurement Systems Analysis, Yield & Cost curves, and Qualification plans.
  • Document problem statements, observations, conclusions, calculations, and recommendations with discipline and follow-through.
  • Support the project pipeline process with senior management to select, prioritize, and scope projects aligned with business objectives and CORE initiatives.
  • Lead significant projects to improve manufacturing process capability and quality performance, and execute process tryout, Delta FAI, PARs, Delta PPAP, EFPR.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field and 10 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in general machining including turning, milling, and grinding.
  • Technical proficiency in complex manufacturing activities, leading and managing a portfolio of cross-functional projects.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required due to government contracts.
  • Qualifications We Prefer

  • Familiarization with CNC controls, machining techniques, cutting tool capabilities, and machine fixtures.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarization with statistics, data analytics, DOE, and multivariate statistics; process monitoring and data collection.
  • Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills with ability to influence others.
  • CORE / 6 Sigma Practitioner / Professional certification; continuous improvement skills (DFSS, Lean, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work with all levels of the organization.

    This role is onsite : employees will work primarily onsite in production and maintenance activities essential to engine development.

    Salary range : 101,000 USD – 203,000 USD. This is a good faith estimate and may vary by experience, role, location, and other factors.
