Responsibilities
Laurel Oaks Behavioral Health Center is a 118 bed Acute Psychiatric Hospital and Residential Treatment Center for children and adolescents ages four through eighteen. The 55,000 square foot facility is situated on approximately 10 acres in the southeast corner of Alabama, less than 20 miles from both Florida and Georgia. In addition to the living units, the facility houses the New Day Academy; a state-supported year-round K-12th grade school with vocational opportunities. The hospital employs approximately 195 staff members.
Laurel Oaks is currently seeking a Recreational Therapist! A Recreational Therapist Designs and initiates appropriate therapeutic services in order to improve the physical, mental and emotional well-being of the patients. Therapeutic services include, but are not limited to : entertainment, exercise, relaxation, expression, music, art, pet and other recreational programs.
This position is Mon-Thursday 10 : 30a-7p, rotating Fridays from 10 : 30a-7p, rotating weekends Sat-Sun 8a-4p.

Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy or a related field. Certification in Music / Art or related Therapy fields.
Experience : Preferred : One year of experience in program development and implementation of therapeutic recreation activities in an inpatient psychiatric hospital.
