American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical Surgical / Neuro travel position requiring a MO or compact license, charge experience, and expertise with neurological patients.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work on a Medical Surgical-Neuro unit within a short term acute care hospitalPatient population includes general neurological and neuromuscular disorders such as MS, ALS, GBS, stroke, epilepsy, infections, and tumorsNurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1 : 4 to 1 : 5Procedures include lumbar punctures, lumbar drains, IV starts, G-tubes, tracheostomies, Foley catheter managementBladder ultrasound is utilized in patient careUses Epic EMR; previous Epic experience is preferredShifts are 4x12 nights (19 : 00-07 : 30), every other weekend requiredNo on-call responsibilitiesFloating may be required within the service lineCare for a diverse neuro-med / surg population including complex neurological diagnoses and post-procedure managementEvery other weekend scheduled shifts are mandatory as per facility policyClinical team expects ability to take charge and float as neededScrub color is navyOrientation parking is $15 and not reimbursed; night shift parking is free in employee lotNo more than 7 days of requested time off per 13-week contract; no RTO during first weekFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyTravel assignments require residency outside a 75-mile radius from the facilityStandard travelers may remain for up to 18 months with a 3 month break required thereafter\n \n Requirements\n
Active MO or compact RN license required; pending license acceptedMinimum of 2 years of general med / surg experience requiredCharge nurse experience requiredCertifications required : BLS, NIH Stroke Scale, IV start competencyEpic charting experience preferredMust live at least 75 miles from facility; local candidates are not acceptedFit-testing compliance required; must be able to shave for testingCandidates who were former permanent employees must wait one year before returning as a traveler\n Benefits\n
