Position Summary :

The Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Director provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for outpatient and intensive outpatient substance use programs. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality clinical care, maintaining regulatory compliance, and advancing program development to meet community needs. The SUD Director champions culturally sensitive and evidence-based treatment approaches while fostering a collaborative and supportive environment for staff and clients.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Lead, recruit, train, and mentor clinical and administrative staff to promote professional growth and clinical excellence
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and support ongoing professional development
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of SUD treatment programs to maximize effectiveness
  • Develop and deliver educational curricula for substance use prevention, recovery, and related specialty programs
  • Monitor program outcomes, quality metrics, and performance indicators; implement quality improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with state, federal, and local regulations and maintain accreditation standards
  • Manage budgets, billing, and financial planning for SUD services
  • Build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, housing providers, mental health services, and public agencies
  • Represent the program in professional networks, coalitions, and advisory boards
  • Oversee individualized treatment plans, client progress, and documentation to ensure positive outcomes
  • Prepare reports and maintain dashboards for leadership and regulatory compliance

Qualifications :

  • Certified Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor
  • Minimum five years of experience in human services or community-based programs addressing substance use prevention and recovery, including outpatient program management
  • Knowledge of recovery processes, twelve-step programs, dual diagnosis treatment, and harm reduction approaches
  • Experience in program planning, budget management, and performance tracking
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
