Position description
The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the UC Irvine School of Medicine anticipates occasional openings in the Project Scientist Series at the Assistant, Associate, and Full Project Scientist rank.
Applications are being sought from candidates who have earned Ph.D., M.D., or M.D. / Ph.D. or its foreign equivalent. Previous track record in independent and collaborative research are highly desirable. Experience in grant writing and submission, preferably with knowledge of NIH grant applications strongly preferred. Strong communication skills and ability to mentor and train diverse research teams is essential. Demonstrated publication record in reputable scientific journals. Project Scientists make significant and creative contributions to research or creative projects. Appointees may be ongoing members of a research team or may be employed for a limited period to contribute high-level skills. Project Scientists have a broad range of knowledge and competency with a high level of independence.
Positions are dependent on extramural funding. Project Scientist series positions are occasionally available throughout the year in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences.
