job_description.job_card.job_descriptionBachelor’s degree in building construction or relevant field, or comparable combination of education and experience. Minimum 3 years of construction estimating or civil construction supervisory experience. Effective organizational, management and writing skills. Proficiency in construction estimating software – HCSS HeavyBid a plus. Knowledge in VDOT specifications preferred. Understanding construction industry practices, plans and specifications. Strong interpersonal and communications skills. Valid driver’s license. Job requires the following motions : driving, standing, sitting, squatting, reaching, pulling / pushing, and lifting. Job Title :
- Construction Estimator Location : Williamsburg Reports to : Chief Estimator Major Role and Purpose : Provide construction cost estimates for complete site construction projects. Description of Duties : Foster and maintain relationships with contractors, developers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Locate, procure, and prioritize bidding opportunities.
- Visit construction sites to assess site conditions and project feasibility.
- Analyze project requirements to identify potential risks and cost-saving opportunities.
- Review and interpret project plans and specifications to develop and maintain accurate cost estimates for construction projects.
- Maintain and update a database of cost information for various construction materials, labor, and equipment.
- Evaluate subcontract bids.
- Bid preparation and costing.
- Contract negotiation and review.
- Participate in project meetings to offer insights and recommendations on cost related items.
- Facilitate work efficiency to maintain profit goals.
- Perform other tasks assigned or deemed necessary.
