Long Island based Law Office specializing in personal injury and medical malpractice seeks a personable, organized and motivated full-time Paralegal / Legal Assistant to join our firm.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (DO NOT APPLY UNLESS MEET) :

  • BI-LINGUAL : English and Spanish
  • Minimum of 2-3 years in a personal injury or medical malpractice law firm.
  • Full Time; In-Office in New Hyde Park, NY
  • Tech savvy and familiar with lead and case management systems
  • Ability to manage court calendar
  • Clear communication skills and ability to speak with clients, witnesses, opposing counsel, experts, etc.
  • Ability to follow work-process guidelines, multi-task and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Proficient with legal research software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools and Google Suite
  • Reliable and responsible.
  • Collaborative mindset with a commitment to ethical standards and excellence
  • Must be a proactive and have a can-do positive attitude.

Responsibilities include :

  • Handling new client intakes
  • Managing cases through proprietary database
  • Securing required documents from clients, including retainer documentation, medical records, authorizations.
  • Open claims with carriers; file no fault applications
  • Drafting : Summons and Complaints; Bills of Particulars; Discovery Responses; Discovery Demands; Requests for Preliminary Conferences; Note of Issues, Settlement Paperwork, etc.
  • Communicating with clients, other attorneys’ offices, experts, witnesses, medical providers, hospitals, etc. to obtain necessary records and documents.
  • Assist with preparation for depositions hearings and trial presentations
  • Support firm’s daily operations
