Description : General Purpose :
Performs screens, evaluations and develops treatment plans to restore, maintain or prevent decline of resident function. Plans and administers medically prescribed therapy treatments in accordance with federal, state and professional standards. Follow Glenvue policies and procedures. Demonstrates professional and legal behaviors with adherence to HIPPA regulations.
Major Duties and Responsibilities :
- Evaluate and treat patients with communication, cognitive and / or swallowing disorders. Maintain and complete patient records in timely manner.
- Communicate in a competent manner with patients, family members, caregivers and practitioners to provide appropriate instruction and education.
- Enter speech therapy charges daily; and in an accurate manner. Consistently provide the appropriate therapy minutes projected for patients. Effectively communicate when it is not possible due to changes in patient status.
- Consistent performance of safe techniques, recognition of precautions and contraindications with the ability to modify approaches and accurately monitor patient responses.
- May supervise speech therapy students.
- Work with other disciplines to coordinate dysphagia protocols.
- Maintains and increases professional competency by participating in continued education.
- Communicate in a competent manner with patients, family members, caregivers and practitioners to provide appropriate instruction and education.
- Establish augmentative communication when appropriate.
- Recommend appropriate diagnostic testing when indicated.
- Screen new admissions, nursing referrals and per the care plan schedule. Refer to other disciplines when indicated.
- Display exemplary customer service skills.
- Follow all safety policies to assure resident safety.

Holds Master’s Degree in Speech Language PathologyHolds valid state licensurePhysical Requirements :

Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB, and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
