Veterinary Dental Specialties – San Diego is hiring an experienced Vet Assistant. Candidates should have a passion for dentistry, anesthesia, and exceptional client and patient care. This position earns a competitive wage of $27 to $30 per hour depending on experience. JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 – 5 years of Vet Assistant experience in a veterinary clinic or specialty clinic as a veterinary assistant.
- Must be proficient IV catheter placement, must be comfortable monitoring anesthesia and quickly respond to anesthesia and assisting the surgeon as necessary.
- Experience with dentals and dental radiology a plus.
- High degree of emotional intelligence, work ethic and integrity skills required.
- Able to use sound judgement when dealing with confidential information.
- Able to multi-task and prioritize job duties in a busy and constantly changing work environment.
- Able to be calm and level-headed in an often-stressful work environment.
- Experience in maintaining computerized medical records; EzyVet and Cubex experience a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of basic animal handling, knowledge of basic animal health care.
- Able to perform moderately physically demanding work that requires a lot of lifting (up to 50 pounds), cleaning, and constant motion.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
The ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment and to communicate to build relationships with colleagues and clients is required.The ability to deliver exceptional client and patient services.Knowledge of Fear Free techniques, and Fear Free certification is preferred. Access to certification will be provided if not already possessed.Knowledge of common medications, and filling medicationsDental radiography and cone-beam CT (VetCat IQ) experience. If not possessed, training will be provided.Monitoring anesthesia.Instrument and equipment sterilization and maintenance.Help perform IV catheters, blood draws.Perform laboratory tests such as blood work and urinalysis.Clean and maintain medical equipment and instrumentsProvide post-operative care and monitor patients during recovery.Clean kennels and laundry.
