Definition
The EMS Project Manager oversees all assigned project installations, ensuring successful execution from start to finish. Responsibilities include scheduling subcontractors, performing system startup and checkout, managing technicians, and coordinating resources to complete projects on time, within budget, and in line with contract requirements. We are seeking candidates with extensive experience in the Energy Management and Building Automation industry.
Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities :
Utilize project management software for tracking, scheduling, and financial reporting.
Lead interoffice project turnover meetings.
Supervise and delegate tasks to assigned Assistant Project Managers.
Maintain clear and consistent communication with customers, end users, and contractors.
Coordinate subcontractors, verify quality of work, and ensure proper scheduling.
Oversee startup, checkout, and technician activities to meet project timelines and budgets.
Communicate project equipment and material needs to the EMS Operations Manager (OM).
Provide on-the-job training and keep technicians informed of project status.
Prepare corrected submittal books for Engineering to create as-built drawings.
Represent the company in all job site meetings and remain actively engaged in project execution.
Evaluate technician performance and provide feedback to the EMS OM.
Maintain accurate project schedules, manpower reports, and revenue projections.
Participate in team-building, kickoff, and project closeout meetings.
Ensure cleanliness, organization, and proper maintenance of team vehicles, tools, and equipment.
Enforce mandatory participation in company training programs.
Route all engineering and sales requests through the EMS OM for proper coordination.
Maintain a balance of approximately 80% field work and 20% office work.
Administrative Responsibilities :
Oversee project billing forecasts and documentation with the Assistant Project Manager.
Coordinate subcontractor billing projections and ensure monthly billing accuracy.
Track project progress across engineering, PM, technician, material, and subcontractor metrics.
Complete all project SOV billing worksheets and verify invoices with project contacts.
Provide accounting with accurate billing data for invoice preparation.
Support ongoing learning in energy management and building automation, emphasizing self-development and team collaboration.
Advanced Responsibilities :
Conduct job walks throughout project phases.
Attend project meetings to review manpower, schedules, and forecasts.
Confirm project completion for full funding and customer acceptance.
Provide basic technical support to customers, including schedules, trends, reports, audits, and system navigation.
Manage change orders, RFIs, and project logs while coordinating with accounting.
Update monthly WIP reports for the EMS OM.
Qualifications / Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent required; degree in business management or related field preferred.
Prior construction experience required (technician, assistant PM, or related role).
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office; ability to learn company project management software.
Excellent organizational, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Professional, punctual, and detail-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
