Special Education Teacher

The Special Education Teacher will work with students who have been diagnosed with Autism and / or Intellectual Disability.

• Certification and Qualifications
• Pennsylvania certified in Special Education
• Current (dated within a year) FBI, PA Criminal Background, Child Abuse and Act 168 clearances
• First Aid / CPR
• Mandated Reporter
• Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis preferred
• Experience teaching individuals with challenging behaviors is preferred
• Essential Duties :
• Life Skills / Learning Support responsibilities
• Provide support to a caseload of approximately 8-12 students.
• Teacher will be responsible for providing modifications to student assignments, supplemental materials to support students with academic assignments, reducing student workload to an appropriate level based on their needs, setting a student up for success by providing daily schedules and study guides, one-on-one instructional support, collaborating with various professionals on behalf of each student to ensure academic success, and communication between the home and school environment
• Ability to write an effective Individualized Educational Program (IEP).
• Participation in and facilitation of IEP meetings
• Competencies Required :
• Competence in assessing student progress towards IEP goals and objectives and ability to write a quality review of records and IEP based on student progress and performance
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures
• Able to work independently and effectively with other team members.
