The Special Education Teacher will work with students who have been diagnosed with Autism and / or Intellectual Disability.
- Certification and Qualifications
- Pennsylvania certified in Special Education
- Current (dated within a year) FBI, PA Criminal Background, Child Abuse and Act 168 clearances
- First Aid / CPR
- Mandated Reporter
- Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis preferred
- Experience teaching individuals with challenging behaviors is preferred
- Essential Duties :
- Life Skills / Learning Support responsibilities
- Provide support to a caseload of approximately 8-12 students.
- Teacher will be responsible for providing modifications to student assignments, supplemental materials to support students with academic assignments, reducing student workload to an appropriate level based on their needs, setting a student up for success by providing daily schedules and study guides, one-on-one instructional support, collaborating with various professionals on behalf of each student to ensure academic success, and communication between the home and school environment
- Ability to write an effective Individualized Educational Program (IEP).
- Participation in and facilitation of IEP meetings
- Competencies Required :
- Competence in assessing student progress towards IEP goals and objectives and ability to write a quality review of records and IEP based on student progress and performance
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to follow established policies and procedures
- Able to work independently and effectively with other team members.
