Machinery Diagnostics Field Engineer

As a Machinery Diagnostics Field Engineer, you will provide customers with complete service solutions to address their critical rotating machinery assets, protection, and monitoring system. This includes evaluating machinery condition based on rotor dynamic analysis; installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining protection system hardware; installing, troubleshooting, and maintaining monitoring system hardware and software.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose machinery problems based on vibration data, operational data, and customer communications.
  • Travel to customer sites as required, bringing all necessary diagnostic equipment.
  • Document findings and recommendations timely.
  • Engage in professional communications with customers and other team members.
  • Determine and direct placement of balance weights.
  • Perform Asset Management / Reliability Service Studies.
  • Prepare timely Work Order requests, quick quotes, and invoicing packages.
  • Assess job site safety and understand T&C commitments.
  • Install transducers and configure monitoring systems.
  • Complete alignment using Reverse Dial, Laser, and Optical methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Have a bachelor's degree (Mechanical Engineering a plus).
  • Have a minimum of 3 years of industry experience (energy and / or oil & gas), ideally with vibration analysis.
  • Be available for extensive travel, up to 70%, and significant overtime (paid).
  • Possess a valid driver's license and passport (or be able to obtain).
  • Be eligible to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential).
  • Be eligible to travel overseas and / or work on offshore platforms on occasion.
  • Desirable Characteristics

  • Theoretical and practical knowledge of reliability services.
  • ISO certification for vibration analysis.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to varied audiences.
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and manage projects.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting skills and hands-on approach.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and understand mechanical prints.
  • Knowledge of rotating machinery operation and controls systems; machinery protection and management systems.
  • Knowledge of or experience with one or more of : mechanical vibration, rotating machinery vibration / diagnostics, rotodynamic analysis, Pd.M. data acquisition / evaluation, machinery balancing and alignment.
  • Knowledge of Bently Nevada products and services; basic familiarity with computer networks.
