Summary
The Multi-Specialty Radiation Therapy Technologist provides direct care to Radiation Oncology patients by accurately setting up and delivering prescribed radiation treatments with minimal supervision. This position is responsible for ensuring the precision and safety of all imaging and radiation procedures performed.
All team members are expected to promote a culture of safety, comply with federal and state regulatory requirements, meet Joint Commission standards, and follow all national patient safety protocols.
Essential ResponsibilitiesPrepare treatment room and equipment according to each patient’s prescription, including beam modifiers, positioning devices, and alignments. Perform and document daily machine checks during morning warm-up.Deliver radiation therapy treatments as outlined in treatment plans, ensuring precision and adherence to safety protocols. Perform imaging (OBI and CBCT) accurately, with full understanding of quality parameters.Maintain proficiency in simulation and therapy techniques, routine dosimetry calculations, and block cutting. Fabricate custom treatment devices (e.g., cerrobend blocks) before therapy initiation.Coordinate simulation and treatment schedules, order and charge procedures accurately, and assist with patient chart checks to ensure proper documentation.Maintain manual and electronic records to ensure availability of accurate patient data for clinical review.Stay current with advancements in radiation therapy techniques, equipment, and safety measures; participate in evaluations and implementation of new methods.Maintain exceptional patient relations, demonstrating respect for all patients, families, and visitors. Serve as a patient advocate when needed, particularly in cases involving limited ability to communicate or understand care needs.Assist in cost control efforts, including monitoring supply usage and supporting preventative maintenance programs for therapy equipment.
Minimum Qualifications
Education : High school diploma or equivalent.Graduate of an ARRT-approved Radiology Program with a completed course in radiation therapy, orGraduate of an accredited radiation therapy program and must be registry eligible.ARRT certification required within 1 year of hire or transfer.
Experience : Prior experience in Radiation Therapy preferred.
Licensure / Certification : ARRT certification in Radiation Therapy required (or must be obtained within one year of hire).
